“Management of the Medically Compromised Dental Patient”

On two (2) of your new patients:

Review the physiologic condition of diagnosed illnesses or disorders/conditions.

Discuss the drugs they are taking to manage this condition and the drugs primary or intended affect on their cardiodynamic, respiratory, metabolic and central nervous system, hemodynamic, etc…

Address this patient psychological and emotional state as it may affect the treatment based upon assessment of their meds their disease state and your intended treatment.

Outline the proposed dental treatment whether you perform and/ or complete it or not.

Review the drugs you need to use.  List the drugs you should avoid and why due to pharmacologic interaction or psychological condition and why

List and review the possible physiologic and pharmacologic responses to your treatment and your drugs you will be alerted to.

Outline how you plan to respond and manage any undesired responses or side effects.

Bring any patient research sources that you utilized in assessing this patient.
