Dr. Joseph Massad
Dr. Joseph Massad practices in Tulsa as a general practitioner with a focus on removable complete prosthodontics and conducts extensive national and international continuing education programs for the dental profession. Dr. Massad was a keynote speaker at the International Symposium for Edentulous Patients in Beirut, Lebanon in 1998 where twenty countries were represented including Europe and the mid-east. In January of 2000, he was the keynote speaker for the 3rd Triennial Commonwealth Dental Association in New Delhi, India, and the keynote speaker at the Lebanese Dental Association Meeting in September 2000. Dr. Massad presented a 3-day hands-on course at the University of Coimbra, Portugal where he taught 14 of the top Masters and PhD's in the Prosthodontic field in Portugal.
Dr. Massad graduated from Loyola University of Chicago and is presently an associate professor at the Pankey Institute in Florida and holds an adjunct professor position at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. Dr. Massad also served as a clinical associate professor from 1982 to 1987 at the Michael Cardone, Sr. School of Dentistry in Oklahoma. As of June 2000, he is serving as adjunct associate clinical professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. Dr. Massad is also an adjunct faculty member for the Oklahoma College of Dentistry as well as an adjunct professor of forensic dentistry for the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Massad has been extremely active in numerous dental organizations including being Chief Dental Examiner for several years for the State Board of Dentistry in Oklahoma. Dr. Massad is a National Sponsor for the Academy of General Dentistry, a program approved for continuing education, PACE, which is FAGD/MAGD approved.
He has published various professional articles in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, International Journal of Periodontal and Restorative Dentistry, Compendium of Continuing Dental Education, The Independent Journal, England, The Pankey Gram, Bulletin of American Association of Dental Examiners, Journal of the Oklahoma Dental Association, Dentistry Today, Dental Economics, and others. His latest article is being featured in the July 2000 issue of the Compendium entitled "A Simplified Approach to Optimizing Denture Stability With Lingualized Occlusion".
Dr. Massad has been a featured speaker at the American Prosthodontic Society as well as the American Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association, Federation Dentaire International and many other prestigious dental groups. He has given numerous workshops and presentations to various well-known national and international organizations as well as teaching institutions. Dr. Massad participates in a research grant at the University of Oklahoma School of Dentistry on "centric relation studies" funded by Dentsply International and is also participating in a research grant at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, on the "effectiveness of wearing denture adhesive on well-fitting dentures" funded by Proctor & Gamble. He is conducting another research project funded by Dentsply for development of a new and improved denture base. He is a consultant for many dental manufacturing companies trying to improve dental delivery to patients. He is also an approved IRB dentist.
